Kelly Scott RVN Head Nurse - Cat Advocate

I qualified as a registered Veterinary Nurse in 2010 after completing my training in a practice in Heathfield. I trained as an Animal Nursing Assistant initially which I attended Plumpton one day a week and achieved a Distinction in. I then went on to complete my level 2 and 3 NVQ in Veterinary Nursing at Plumpton College. I remained at the practice I trained at and worked my way up to Head Nurse in 2014. After 2 years of being Head Nurse I decided to make a career jump and spent 6 months as a night nurse at an emergency out of hours clinic, which I gained a lot of experience dealing with emergency surgeries. I then moved on to being a locum Veterinary Nurse gaining new experiences of how different practices work and was involved in assisting with surgery, caring for patients and nurse clinics.

I joined the Well House practice in August 2017 as the Head Nurse. As a little girl, I have always had a great passion and love for animals and that only grew as I got older. I kept myself busy by working at a kennels and I regularly carried out work experience at a Vet Practice in Horam. This helped confirm that this was definitely the career I wanted to be in. My interests at work include nurse clinics especially weight clinics and I enjoy being a clinical coach to help train and mentor other Veterinary Nurses achieve their dream of being qualified.

My interests outside of work include travelling; I have been lucky enough to travel to many different places but there are still loads more on the bucket list to see. I also love spoiling my special cat, Chester and currently I have been busy doing up our house that I bought with my partner last year.
